The reverse depicts highlighted multicolor Sydney Olympics emblem—nicknamed the "Millennium Man"—consists of a stylized, multi-colored depiction of a torch-bearer in motion, with arms and legs resembling boomerangs, and a smoke trail resembling the roof of the Sydney Opera House (a motif that had also been used in the logo for Sydney's bid) on the gold center. Surrounding this depiction is the wording: "XVIII COMMONWEALTH GAMES" appear on the inner ring in silver while images of all 16 sports being competed at the games circle the outer copper ring.
