DENDROBIUM SECUNDUM

Description:
The 2011 Rwanda 500 francs "Orchid - Dendrobium Secundum" coin is an elegant issue dedicated to one of the country’s native flora of Thailand. The floral side creates a dramatic contrast between the colored Toothbrush orchid bright and silver field. A detailed cluster of blooming orchids across the composition, displaying multiple blossoms with sculpted pink lips and petals with orange in the middle, unopened buds, a green slender stem and long pointed green leaves. The botanical name DENDROBIUM SECUNDUM curves prominently around the upper border within a ribbon, while the "Wat Chaiwatthanaram" Buddhist temple in the city of Ayutthaya Historical Park, Thailand in the background completes the design.
