PTEROIS VOLITANS
Description:
The obverse features a dramatic underwater scene rendered with deep color application and sculptural relief. A beautifully colored pair Lionfish swimming through clear blue waters among above a richly detailed coral reef. The fish is rendered with exceptional detail: a ray-finned, and red or black bands and ostentatious dorsal fins tipped. Surrounding the fish are blue coral formations, yellow and green reef structures, red coral branches, and a deep blue underwater background that evokes the ocean’s depth. Additional raised silver a graceful island with tall coconut palm detailed ocean waves extending toward the horizon, and a beautifully detailed image of a long-snouted seahorse with bubbles that emphasize the animal’s movement and aquatic environment, appear outside the central colored area, creating a layered, dynamic composition. The upper rim carries the inscription "CHELONIA MYDAS", emphasizing the species scientific name.
