THE BIG FIVE OF AFRICA • LION
1 oz BIG 2010 AG .999
Description:
The obverse features a breathtaking close-up portrait of a lion’s face, rendered in exceptional detail. The textured mane flows outward with finely engraved strands, while the piercing eyes, whiskers, nose, and muzzle create a lifelike and intense expression superimposed over a full-bodied adult male lion standing to the left while turning its head directly toward the viewer. The animal is rendered with a broad face, alert eyes, rounded ears and an exceptionally prominent flowing mane, with individual strands extending across the chest and shoulders. Muscular legs, paws, body contours and a long curved tail ending in a tuft emphasize the lion’s strength and natural elegance. In the background, a geometric ornament resembling traditional Rwandese patterns is shown above and Rwandan Baskets "Agaseke below. The composition is enhanced by the series name around the upper rim, the year below, and the metal, weight and purity on the both sides.
