The obverse features an exceptionally detailed frontal portrait of a leopard, with piercing eyes, finely engraved fur, whiskers, and powerful facial features superimposed over a finely engraved leopard moving cautiously in a powerful stalking pose. Every detail of the animal is carefully rendered, including its muscular body, long tail, whiskers, paws, and distinctive spotted coat captured in lifelike detail to emphasize strength, balance, and agility. In the background, a geometric ornament resembling traditional Rwandese patterns is shown above and modern buildings below. The composition is enhanced by the series name around the upper rim, the year below, and the metal, weight and purity on the both sides.
