The reverse of the coin depicts a coloured image of the Monkey King on a chair against a backdrop of mountains and clouds, with two young monkeys. The Chinese character (猴) for ‘monkey’ and at the bottom the inscription ‘Year of the Monkey’ also appear in the design with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.
