CYPRUS EU PRESIDENCY

Description:
A composition depicting a daisy enclosed in wavy circles. The daisy is a motif from a "lefkaritiko" lace, the embroidery of Lefkara village. The lefkaritiko embroidery is included in UNESCO's Representative List of the Intagible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It is a characteristic example of the folklore tradition of Cyprus and reflects Cyprus' hospitality. The wavy circles around the motif symbolise the Mediterranean Sea surrounding Cyprus. The coin's denomination of €5 and the wording "CYPRUS EU PRESIDENCY" are also depicted.
