Engraved by Wojciech Pietranik
Lettering:
Year of the SURF LIFESAVER
5 DOLLARS

Description:
The reverse of the coin features a dynamic portrayal of a rescue boat amongst the crashing waves. A number of lifesavers can be seen in the boat and the image embodies courage and dedication that these people have to deal with on a regular basis. Details of the waves have been carefully struck; the design around the edge of the coin almost forms an impression of a rolling wave. The denomination 5 DOLLARS overlaps the water and the legend Year of the SURF LIFESAVER curls up and around the edge of the coin.
