WESTERN TAIPAN
Oxyuranus microlepidotus
AB
Description:
The reverse presents a striking design in a new and unique form. The long skeletal form of the inland taipan (Oxyuranus microlepidotus), also commonly known as the western taipan, small-scaled snake, or fierce snake, with jaws wide open and hollow fangs on display, ready to strike on its prey, demonstrates the power and grace of Australia’s ‘western taipan’. The Australian map determines the location where they are found in semi‑arid regions near the border of Queensland and South Australia. Its common and scientific name between its open jaws, and face value above its skull. The designer's monogram "A over B" in tiny letters at the bottom.
