Description:
The reverse features VOC Ship Batavia on her maiden voyage, which is an impressive depiction of a large sailing ship viewed head-on, its tall masts, rigging, and billowing sails rendered in sharp relief. The ship cuts through stylized waves, conveying power and motion, navigating through ocean waves lap at their hulls in the foreground of the astrolabe in the background. On the right its name "AVOC," the inscription identifies the theme "BATAVIA" and the metal, purity and weight "1 OZ.999 Ag" curved along the upper rim.
