2021 THE EARTH AND BEYOND - THE MILKY WAY
FIVE DOLLARS
Description:
The reverse of the coin is an incredible concave representation of a vivid, and the stunning beauty and clearly identified depiction of the Milky Way viewed from above, using layered colour, a central glowing with several spiraling arms around it, to highlight its spiral structure. The surrounding design incorporates our home solar system: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn with its iconic rings, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and the earth with its moon orbiting around it - Galileo sitting the pedestal with date "1610" gazing through a telescope toward the heavens (In 1610 Galileo Galilei observed with his telescope that Venus showed phases, despite remaining near the Sun in Earth's sky) - star shapes and symbolic motifs that frame the galaxy at centre. The series name, "The Earth and Beyond - THE MILKY WAY" is engraved on the top outer rim, along with the year of issue. The denomination is engraved on the bottom outer rim.
