On the right field of the reverse features painting by Grace Cossington Smith "Curve of the Bridge, 1928-1929," depicting the Sydney Harbor Bridge during its construction, in this painting bands of color seem to radiate into the sky from the arc of the bridge, the effect is of softly shimmering color which rhythmically follows the forms of the bridge and the buildings, the painting pulsating with life and radiance. Cossington Smith celebrates the Sydney Harbor Bridge as a powerful symbol of technology and modernity. On the left side, her name accompanied by dates, year of birth and death are "GRACE COSSINGTON SMITH". The painting's name curves along the upper left edge and the denomination "5 DOLLARS" opposite it.
