Description:
The coin’s reverse depicts a beautifully engraved Lockheed L-749 Constellation aircraft in flight (the first Lockheed Constellation to regularly cross the Atlantic Ocean non-stop). The aircraft is illustrated with slender wings, streamlined fuselage, Triple-Tailed, engine nacelles, and propellers in the foreground. One of its windows with an engraved small image of it on it in the background. The inscription identifies the theme "AVIATION HISTORY - CONSTELLATION L749" curves along the upper edge and the face value "5 DOLLARS" is inscribed close to the bottom rim. The designer's monogram (WP) is also incorporated into the design below right.
