The obverse side presents the Central Bank of Lesotho logo surrounded by a laurel wreath tied with a ribbon. Within the emblem appear a central circle with Basotho hat at the upper field and lower one a high-altitude mountains "a natural environment of Lesotho", dividing by the word Maloti surrounded by inscriptions in English and Sesotho "CENTRAL BANK OF LESOTHO" and "BANKA E KHOLO EA LESOTHO", while the Lesotho coat of arms is positioned above. A dotted circular border and the anniversary dates 1980–2005 complete the composition.
