The obverse of the coin depicts an artistic circle of stylized snowflakes. 6th crowned portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II facing right (the Commonwealth effigy), wearing the George IV State Diadem, the Coronation Necklace and Earrings. encircled by the inscriptions "QUEEN ELIZABETH II" - the name of the Queen, "AUSTRALIA" - the issuing country, "2 DOLLARS" - the face value and "2021" - the issue year and "2oz 9999 Ag" - the weight of the coin and the purity of the Silver. Below the effigy, the transparent locket is visible on this side and features the snowflake in the center.

Encased in the coin’s center is a 24-carat gold-plated insert representing a six-pointed snowflake. Encased in the coin’s center is a 24-carat gold-plated insert representing a six-pointed snowflake. Symbolizing their many wondrous hexagonal shapes in nature, the snowflake insert can be made to gently rotate by moving the coin. The design also includes the mintmark 'P' from the Perth Mint at the right side and the designer's initials (MR) are also incorporated into the design at the top.
