Description:
Within a roped-shape circle the reverse depicts a richly detailed image of HMAS AE2, one of the very first of the Royal Australian Navy’s submarines, commissioned in 1914 following the outbreak of World War I, in the middle. The upper half of the design captures the battle honors of it (Rabaul 1914 and Dardanelles 1915) within a ribbon and emblem of AE2 and The lower half of the design the face value "2 DOLLARS" against the map of Old World "Afro-Eurasia" in the background. The inscription "100 YEARS OF THE ROYAL AUSTRALIAN NAVY" around above - the coin name - and the submarine name "H.M.A.S. AE2 SUBMARINE" around below. The dates "1911 - 2011" are inscribed on both sides.
