Description:
The obverse features a finely engraved image of a Pavè technique (small gemstones in which the stones are set so closely together that no metal shows) panda bear seated among bamboo stems. The animal is shown in a calm, natural pose, with black fur texture, on its rounded body contours, eye patches, muzzle, legs, arms, small ears and shoulders. The rest of the animal’s coat is white, carefully rendered in relief. This coin shows the animal with the Pavé setting in its natural coloration eating its principal food the bamboo leaves. The surrounding bamboo leaves and stalks create a natural habitat scene, emphasizing the panda’s close connection to its environment. Above the scene is the inscription “THE GIANT PANDA”, while below appears the metal, weight and purity accompanied by the date "2015 3oz FINE SILVER 999" along the bottom edge.
