The obverse features a striking gilt finish that highlights a compelling wildlife scene featuring a family of Black rhinoceros one calf dominates the foreground, stepping through shallow water, while the rest family standing behind also on shallow water surrounded by reeds, cattails, marsh vegetation, and gentle water ripples. The animals are rendered in high relief with massive body, prominent shoulder hump, textured folds, and distinctive double horns are sculpted in gilded relief against sparse grass, shrubs, rocks, distant hills, a wide acacia trees, mountains and a calm horizon complete the African landscape in the background. Diamond crystals form the black rhinoceros' eyes, creating a striking contrast with the reflective gold surface. Above the scene is the inscription “BLACK RHINOCEROS”, while below appears the date 2011. The composition conveys calm strength and harmony with nature.
