The animal is rendered with a broad face, alert eyes, rounded ears and an exceptionally prominent flowing mane, with individual strands extending across the chest and shoulders. Muscular legs, paws, body contours and a long curved tail ending in a tuft emphasize the lion’s strength and natural elegance stands alert, his muscular body rendered in fine relief. Beside him, a lioness lies stretched across the ground facing forward, while sparse grass, shrubs, rocks, distant hills, a wide acacia trees, mountains and a calm horizon complete the African landscape. Diamond crystals form the elephants' eyes, creating a striking contrast with the reflective gold surface. Above the scene is the inscription “AFRICAN LION”, while below appears the date 2008.
