EVOLUTION OF KNOWLEDGE

Description:
The reverse bears an intricate color design geometric shapes representing modes of thought ranging from ancient to modern times symbolizing mankind’s improved understanding of the universe as a metaphor for development of its knowledge on many fronts, depicting at the heart of the coin the center of the design shows a human figure within basic geometric shapes, reflecting ancient teachings that the square symbolized the microcosm, or finite world, and the circle indicated the macrocosm, or infinite cosmic sphere. These elements are surrounded by orbit tracks, embodying the ideas of advancement and progression. Beyond lies a ‘fish-eye’ view of the cosmos, comprising stars, galaxies, nebulas, comets and the Hubble Space Telescope, an instrument having a profound effect on modern mankind’s understanding of the universe. The coin features an inscribed rim detailing its purity, weight, and year of production accompanied by the series name "AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA - 2001 · 10OZ. 999 SILVER" . This remarkable feature adds aesthetic value beyond the metal content. The coin's name "EVOLUTION OF THE NUMBERS" is inscribed close to the bottom rim. The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark appears left and the designer's initials (AD) between human legs.
