VERGULDE DRAECK
AB
1 oz .999 Ag

Description:
On the reverse of coin depicts the Vergulde Draeck in full sale on calm seas. The ship is surrounded with regal, maritime ornaments common to the period (Medieval Knight Helmet above and double Gilt Dragons belwo). The date of the shipwreck “1656,” the name of the ship “Vergulde Draeck,” and the coin’s weight, purity, and metal content are all upside down. When flip the coin to view these elements upright, this puts the design of the Vergulde Draeck itself in the position it ultimately came to rest: capsized. The designer's initials (AB) below right.
