Description:
On the reverse side of the coin is the striking design of a shell, with its interior mother of pearl visible. In the center of the design is a polished fragment of an Australian white mother of pearl shell, which is set against the background of a pattern representing the sea floor. The brilliant design encompasses so much of the reverse side that the only engravings are “AUSTRALIAN WHITE MOTHER OF PEARL SHELL.” In the left field, The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ Mint Mark appears and the the designer's initials (NM) at the opposite.
