Description:
The coin’s reverse depicts a finely detailed of the megalania, a giant monitor lizard creature that lived in Australia during the Pleistocene period. Its tongue slithers out of its sharp-toothed maw, and one clawed hand reaches up to slash the viewer. The whip-like tail disappears into the horizon. set against a vivid colored background. The inscription "MEGALANIA" around above, the coin’s metal, weight and purity"1oz 999 Silver," around below. In the right field, The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark appears and the the designer's initials (PT) are also incorporated into the design on the Diprotodon's right fore leg.
