The coin's reverse portrays a representation of depiction of the "Little Hero" Nugget (was discovered near Marble Bar in Western Australia in 1890, causing quite a public stir, when it was exhibited at the Union Bank office in Perth) against stylized rays of light. inscriptions identify theme "AUSTRALIAN NUGGET" around above, “LITTLE HERO” and year of discover “1890” around below. In the right field, The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark appears and the designer's initials (SD) in tiny letters in the lowest part of the nugget.
