The reverse features a colored image of a leopard seal (Hydrurga leptonyx) and its pup. The colored image of the leopard seals appears within the outline of Antarctica. Leopard seals occur exclusively in the Southern Hemisphere generally inhabiting pack-ice surrounding the Antarctic continent. These solitary predatory animals with spotted body markings also frequent larger sub-Antarctic islands including Australia's Heard and Macquarie Islands and have even been sighted in Tasmania. The inscriptions include "LEOPARD SEAL : 2005"
and "Australian Antarctic Territory." In the left below field, The P mint mark of the Perth Mint. The designer's initials (SB) are behind leopard seal tail.
