Description:
The reverse features a stylized King Brown Snake (also known as Mulga Snake), one of Australia’s most powerful and iconic reptiles and flicks out its forked tongue, smelling the air and searching for prey. It is seen from above. The engraving shows the snake coiled in a dynamic pose, with detailed scales and curved body lines, on splashes of warm golden color the represent the desert pavement (or gibber) environment in which it lives. Around the rim appear inscriptions "DISCOVER AUSTRALIA," above "2009", "KANGAROO" and the metal, purity and weight "1 oz 999 SILVER" below. In the left field, The P mint mark of the Perth Mint and the designer's initials (DB ) below.
