The reverse features a central opal inlay, where the shimmering gemstone has been laser-cut to depict a detailed kangaroo motif, radiating with iridescent flashes of blue, green, and fiery hues. Around the opal are finely engraved sprigs of native Australian flora, the Southern Cross constellation a renowned star group which is only visible in the Southern hemisphere, Sturt's Desert Pea leaves and blossoms a first crescent moon, reflecting the animal’s nocturnal nature The inscriptions include KANGAROO, alongside the Perth Mint’s “P” mintmark. The metal, weight and purity marks “1oz 999 SILVER” and date "2012" at the left side.
