Description:
The coin's beautiful design celebrates the pristine beauty of the 27 coral islands and their reputation as a sanctuary for an abundance of wildlife. It depicts a color image of a Red-footed Booby (Sula sula), which maintains one of the largest breeding colonies in the world on North Keeling Island. The inscription identify theme "COCOS (KEELING) ISLANDS AUSTRALIAN TERRITORY" in two lines around above, 50TH ANNIVERSARY at the right of bird. In the left field, The Perth Mint’s “P” mintmark appears on branch's leaf, and the designer's initials (SB) discreetly at the bottom.
