The reverse presents two soldiers (who defended the Libyan port of Tobruk in 1941, earning the nickname “Rats of Tobruk” for their resilience under siege) in helmets inside a trench, observing the battlefield where explosions rise dramatically in the background. Around the edge are inscriptions: 75th ANNIVERSARY OF WWII and THE RATS OF TOBRUK. The Perth Mint’s “P” mintmark is placed on the left side and the designer's initials (NM) below it. The coin’s metal, weight and purity"1oz 999 Silver," is inscribed on the right side.
