Description:
On the reverse side of the coin is a depiction of the semiaquatic mammal in its natural habitat. The platypus is shown as it gracefully glides underwater and navigates beneath a delicate lily pad. The design shows the lily pad at the top with its long stems reaching down into the water behind the platypus. On the bottom of the coin, the inscription: "2021" - the year of the issue. On the top, the inscription: "AUSTRALIAN PLATYPUS" - the name of the series. In the right field, The Perth Mint's traditional "P" mint mark and the designers initials “JM” feature at the opposite, in the lily pad.
