The reverse side of the coin bears the classic depiction of the griffin (The creature with the torso, legs and tail of a lion, the head, chest and wings of an eagle harnessed the abilities and powers of the king of beasts and the king of birds. In classical antiquity, the griffin was considered the guardian of golden treasures.) atop a rocky outcrop somewhere in the mountains that legends say are its breeding ground and where it is said to nest. The majestic stance shows off the characteristic features of the cross between a lion and an eagle. The motif is introduced at the top by the inscription 'MYTHICAL CREATURES GRIFFIN'. The mint mark "P" is included and the designer's initials (NM) at the bottom of the rock.
