The head itself has a shiny finish, making it look proof-like in front of the matte finish on the coin. The tiger is the symbol of bravery and prowess and is honored in the Chinese culture, alongside the Chinese character (虎) for tiger above right, the inscription “Year of the Tiger ” is placed along the rim, and the Perth Mint “P” mintmark is also inscribed on the left of the coin.
