The animal is rendered with strong proportions, rounded body, sturdy legs, curved horns, a composed expression, hooves, and tail, giving the animal a realistic presence, emphasizing endurance and resilience. Fine surface textures highlight the ox’s hide and musculature. The Chinese character (牛) for "Ox" below left with date, and the Perth Mint “P” mintmark is also inscribed below left of the coin. The designer's initials "W" in tiny letters on the base of the tree.
