holding his battle staff in one hand, two mountains traced into the design, with one in the foreground and one rising into the background, along with the Chinese character (猴) for "Monkey" to the left, the inscription “Year of the Monkey” is placed along the rim, and the Perth Mint “P” mintmark is also inscribed on the right of the coin.
