Known for their loud laughing calls, kookaburras are symbols of the Australian bush and a beloved part of national identity. The inscription identifies the theme "DISCOVER AUSTRALIA" curves along the upper edge and its name accompanied by weight, purity, and metal content "KOOKABURRA 1/25 OZ 9999 GOLD" are inscribed close to the bottom rim. The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, date appear and the designer's initials (WR) are also incorporated into the design on the right end of a tree branch.
