Description:
The motif depicts a kangaroo in an upright pose against a background of stylized, suggested rays of light, resembling a rising sun. These rays lend the coin a special dynamism and emphasize the three-dimensional representation of Australia's national animal. The motif is surrounded by the inscription "THE AUSTRALIAN NUGGET" around the left side the year of issue 2007, and the purity information are inscribed close to the bottom rim. The designer's initials (JG) are also incorporated into the design on the kangaroo's foot.
