The coin portrays Mary Gillick’s effigy of the young Queen which appeared on Australian circulating coinage between 1953 and 1964 wears a crown of laurels and a sparkling diamond set against a background of sunrays. The inscriptions "QUEEN ELIZABETH II" around the left side, "DIAMOND JUBILEE" around right and the weight, purity, and metal content "2OZ 9999 GOLD" are inscribed close to the bottom rim. In the right side, The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark are also incorporated in the design
