The turtle dominates the upper field, surrounded by flowing sea plants, marine vegetation, ocean floor elements, its textured skin of the legs, head, shells, detailed flippers, scales, and finely sculpted underwater scenery adds realism and depth. The Perth Mint 'P' mint mark can be found on the left-hand side and the designer's initials (NM) below left. The inscriptions "THE LAND DOWN UNDER," "GREAT BARRIER REEF" around above and the weight, purity, and metal content "2 OZ 9999 GOLD" are inscribed close to the bottom rim.
