This coin pays tribute to one of Australia’s most distinctive reptiles, the frilled neck lizard, known for the dramatic frill around its head which it extends when threatened. The reverse shows the lizard in a defensive stance with its frill fully spread, standing on the ground. The engraving captures the alert posture and characteristic appearance of this species, closely connected with the Australian outback. Engravings on this face identify the name of the series "PRIDE OF AUSTRALIA" around above, the face value in letters "TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS" inscribed close to the bottom rim. The designer's initials (HH) are also incorporated into the design below right in the ground to the right of the lizard.
