DOLLARS
Description:
The solemn reverse design, created by Peter Soobik of Orange in N.S.W. and modelled by mint sculptor Vladimir Gottwald, depicts a ghosted profile of King George VI overlaid it a Royal cypher of Elizabeth II (for Elizabeth II Regina - Queen Elizabeth the Second) and King George VI's cypher facing an image of the Queen. The Royal Crown appears between the two images representing the transfer of Sovereignty from the recently deceased King to the new Queen. This structured layout highlights the continuity of monarchy and Australia’s connection to the Crown. Around the portrait appears the inscription “ELIZABETH II CORONATION – 1953 50th ANNIVERSARY 2002” and face value "100 DOLLARS" below.
