Description:
The obverse features a duck-billed platypus is shown mid-swim, viewed facing and slightly behind, its webbed feet spread as it moves through the water. Fine incuse lines pick out the fur across the body, and the animal’s dark bill and eye are rendered clearly. Ribbon-like water plants trail up the left side of the field, and bubbles scatter across the surface to suggest depth.. Below left is a half globe with latitude and longitude lines is the emblem of the series, and the intertwined letters "GA" (for GOLD AFFORDABLE) are an abbreviation for the numismatic program. Around the portrait appear the inscriptions accompanied by the year of issue "ICONS OF THE WORLD 2020" identifying the series name around above, the metal, weight and purity".9999 FINEST GOLD 1/200 OZ OR PUR" around below. The design is completed by a medallion with the anniversary date, ""10th Anniv.", commemorating the Australian Platypus bullion series.
