The reverse features a richly detailed large, powerful, and proud rooster standing on a tree branch, with its beak open as it lets out a morning call, its plumage engraved with striking detail, tail feathers flowing upward. The rooster’s sharp beak, attentive eye, strong legs, and claws convey strength and vigilance. Around the central figure incorporates Chrissy Lau’s traditional Chinese design decorative panels containing floral ornaments. The inscriptions include “2017” above and in three lines “YEAR OF THE ROOSTER" below. At the right, the Chinese character (鷄) for “Rooster.”
