Description:
The reverse featuring Australian Soldiers during a meal time at a machine gun post of the 5th Machine Gun Battalion on the Western Front. The inscription identify theme with date of battle "VILLERS - BRETONNEUX" above, the Hill 104 that was the crest of this hill that the Germans wrested from the exhausted British troops in the early morning and from which they were driven the same night by the 13th and 15th Australian Brigades during the counter-attack by which the Australians recaptured Villers-Bretonneux, and drove back the Germans.
The designer's initials "EJ.L" in tiny letters left below.
