The reverse design features Tasmania's Coat of Arms (Tasmania's Coat of Arms features two Tasmanian Tigers supporting the shield. The sheild features symbols of Tasmania's industry: hops, a sheaf of wheat, a ram, apples and a thunderbold which refers to Tasmania's hydro-electric power system. The 'passant' lion, a traditional symbol of heraldry which is also featured in the State badge appears in the crest. The lion hold a pick and shovel to represent mining. Tasmania's Latin motto 'Ubertas et Fidelitas' or 'Fruitfulness and Faithfulness' appears at the base of the Coat of Arms.) granted by King George V in 1917, representing one of 9 states and territories that make up Australia.
