Description:
The reverse depicts old miners of the Victoria Quartz Mine in Bendigo, Victoria which was the world's deepest gold mine at that time. The miners are working at approximately 1.2 kilometers beneath ground. The three miners at the center of the image are W. Healey, F. Smith and J. Beveridge (left to right), as seen on the 1913 £1 Australian banknote, the face value 50 is placed below, in the frame surrounding the image, surrounded by the inscription CENTENARY OF above and AUSTRALIAN BANKNOTES below.
