The reverse depicts the two doomed cruisers steaming into battle at the upper part three quarter image of Australian light cruiser HMAS Perth cutting by an inscription identify the theme accompanied by the battle date "BATTLE OF SUNDRA STRAIT 1942", at the lower one three quarter image of the United States Navy light cruiser, USS Houston cutting by the denomination "5 DOLLARS" and their names inscribed beside.
