The design of this coin reflects the hope for peace as well as remembrance for those who died, with four design elements: a map of the Asia-Pacific region, a dove, which has become an international symbol of peace. In its beak, the bird is carrying an olive branch, a band of colors that representative of the three Australian military forces; the Australian Army (green), the Royal Australian Navy (blue) and the Royal Australian Air Force (white), which operated during the Second World War, a seven-pointed star for the Commonwealth and also for the stars that were displayed on Mother’s and Widow’s badges. The legend around above left of the coin reads "75 YEARS - END OF SECOND WORLD WAR" and the bottom shows the denomination "TWO DOLLARS." The designer's initials (TD) are below the circle.
