TWO DOLLARS
Description:
The reverse of the coin depicts the Interior of the Hall of Memory dome. From the base of the dome, stylized hands deliver the souls of the dead through clouds and dark blue sky to heaven. The spirits are symbolized by simplified, winged coffins in shapes that suggest Egyptian mummies. From a central spiritual sun, over which the stars of the Southern Cross are superimposed, seven shafts of light radiate to the cornice (the lower rim of the dome) and symbolize the seven-pointed star of Australia. The legend at the top of the coin reads "LEST WE FORGET" and the bottom shows the denomination "TWO DOLLARS." The designer's initials (TD) are in the right field.
