The reverse shows a finely detailed image of the emu, one of several species of this flightless bird that breed there against a vivid colored background of view of the Elabana Falls with ferns native Burrawang Palms in Lamington National Park in South-East Queensland. The inscriptions include AUSTRALIA $1, WET TROPICS OF QUEENSLAND. In the right field, the Perth Mint “P” mintmark and the designer's initials (RV) appears discreetly below it on the emu's back feathers.
