The coin’s reverse depicts a Catalina G-AGKS 'flying boat' and with the taller tail, in flight over the ocean, with a sunrise visible in the background partially obscured in the center, with "ALTAIR" in front and and marked G-AGID near the tail fin. Colored three concentric circles in light blue, red, white and black cutting below right with a circle surrounding the Qantas Airways Limited logo "1944 – 1947" (Kangaroo facing left was drawn in white and placed inside a camel-brown circle, with the white wordmark around its perimeter within a rim inscribed QANTAS EMPIRE AIRWAYS around above and KANGAROO SERVICE below), the anniversary dates 1920 - 2020. around above. Around the outer rim, four stylized airplane shapes, behind two of which there are stylized representation of an aircraft’s wake turbulence, as well as arrow shapes and two circles. Around above the outer rim, the inscription DOUBLE SUNRISE SERVICE. Around below, QANTAS. The designer’s initials (SMS) are around below right, near the rim.
